The March luncheon of the Erie Canal Chapter featured a visit to the section and presentation by AFCEA International President, Lt. Gen C. Norman Wood (USAF, Ret.). Gen Wood recognized the outstanding efforts of the Chapter in supporting local educational programs such as Teaching Tools Award to encourage Science and Engineering in curricula, Scholarships to local college students, and the Mohawk Valley Utica College Science Fair. Gen Wood then gave a briefing from the Washington, DC perspective; Assured information security and integrity; and Novel power sources to enable portable wireless systems. The presentation was highly informative and most timely for the luncheon audience. Accompanying Gen Wood was Mr. Robert Kennedy, Regional Vice President for the New England-Upstate New York Area. Mr. Kennedy presented recongnition awards to members of the Erie Canal Chapter for outstanding service to AFCEA, including a special citation for Mary Carol Chruscicki, for her service as past president, Erie Canal Chapter.
