The Erie Canal Chapter Scholarships are given to
assist deserving students in furthering their educational objectives. The
study program must lead to a degree in electronics, communications or electrical
engineering, physics, mathematics, computer science, environmental science,
or information technology.

In 2002, the Erie Canal Chapter will award up to 10 scholarships:

For full-time undergraduate or graduate study with individual awards from
$500 to $3000.

Up to five scholarships will be awarded to high school seniors.

Up to five scholarships will be awarded to college students.
Awards are based upon the relationship of the applicant's area of study
to AFCEA goals, demonstrated academic performance, potential, honors, community
service, work history, and extracurricular activities. All awards are made
on the basis of merit. Applicants must meet the following Eligibility Requirements
to be considered:

Applicants must be candidates for a degree.

Applicants must be US Citizens.

Applicants must be from the Central NY region which stretches from Albany to Buffalo.

Applicants must NOT have previously received two or more such awards from
this chapter.

Applicants must be a member of AFCEA or the family of an AFCEA member.

The scholarships will be paid directly to the winners. A one-year AFCEA
membership and free subscription to Signal Magazine will be included.

Applications, including letters of recommendation, must be typed or computer generated,
and received by the AFCEA Secretary by close of business
31 March 2002, to be considered. Scholarships will be announced and awards
made at the AFCEA Scholarship Luncheon in May 02.
